Title: Poltical Leanings?
Description: Whats yours?

Deltasix - January 4, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
If you wish to put party affliation (all nation's parties welcomed) you can do so. Also, explain your leanings all around, econmic and social. If you wish to learn some more about it, check out the Politcal Compass thread.

Personally-

I'm a "left winger". I belive in social freedoms and equality for all, often here me say "Live and let live". Econmicly I belive the gov't needs to act to restrict business from harming the people, and should aid the people as best it can, serve them. I would be leaning towards socailism, though I admit that forum of gov't has its flaws, so I wouldn't label myself a socialist.

Kirtar - January 4, 2005 04:28 AM (GMT)
Yah, I'm fairly liberal, too. I just registered to vote a week or two ago, and I put myself down as American Independant. In the political philosophy field, I'd label myself more as a liberal libertarian. I am for a lot of freedoms without restrictions, but I'm also more of a centrist when it comes to the economy.

psycholopher - January 4, 2005 05:13 AM (GMT)
I generally try to be moderate, but I'm a little liberal when push comes to shove. I definitely have conservative streaks within me, however.

Nevin - January 4, 2005 05:27 AM (GMT)
I chose Moderate. I'm actually rather Conservative in moral issues, but I don't believe in legislating morality, so I tend to lean to the left in Politics. However, I'm still farther right than most of the people on this forum. <_<

Deltasix - January 4, 2005 02:33 PM (GMT)
Yea, I want to get more people of the Right in on this, so as to have balanced debates.

Intifada - January 4, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
I am extremely Socialist, some would call me a Communist.

I myself am not so sure at the moment, but I put down "left winger".

blizzard - January 5, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
I'm liberal. :maddox:

Bigfoot - January 5, 2005 02:01 AM (GMT)
IM liberal.

Kirtar - January 5, 2005 02:38 AM (GMT)
Haha, yah, Delta. We certainly need some conservatives to even this board out. If Dice ever comes back to BoR, you should invite him over.

Deltasix - January 5, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
:(

I know, man, I should get Dice's e-mail address or somthing. Locke is a bit of a conseritive I think, but yea, I can't find too many, theres one or 2 more on the board, they have yet to post though <_<

Bigfoot - January 5, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
Ill see what I can do.

MetGreDKo - January 5, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
I'm very far to the left on social issues but halfway in the liberal section for economy so I put down left winger.

Boru - January 5, 2005 07:33 PM (GMT)
I put down left of center.

Economically I'm a socialist for all intents and purposes. Morally though i tend to be more conservative, but not entirely so. For example I support gay marriage, but at the same time I'm against abortion and the death penalty, but for gun control... etc.

mikezbravo - January 6, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
well what can i say, im a hard core republican conservative. As you can see threy are good, or else BUSH wouldnt be pres. So I know BUSH will do a good job, and you will all se. Because I plan on being in Iraq next year (United States Marine Corps) and i know he made the right desision in deploying troops in Iraq to over come terrorism.

Deltasix - January 6, 2005 02:43 AM (GMT)
Well, good to have someone more right that Nevin. Heh, I disagree with most things you say Mike, but good to have you on board. This isn't the place to refute what you say, I'll do that elsewheres :D

Happy Hunting

eh, actually "good" in terms of whats most beneficial has nothing to do with it the elections as people (everyone) is ignorant on at least one topic. They go with what they (think?) they know in which case. So basically I'm saying just because people agreed and/or voted for him that doesn't mean it actually is best. It is just what they think, not what is fact.

Same goes with if Kerry won.

Thomas Paine - January 6, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
I am openly oppossed to people whose beliefs are best described as unrealistic.
I have included a definition below to clarify what I mean.

un·re·al·is·tic Pronunciation Key (nr--lstk)
adj.

Not compatible with reality or fact; unreasonably idealistic: unrealistic expectations.

Boru - January 6, 2005 04:16 PM (GMT)
Thomas,
but isn't the basis for determining something "idealistic" more or less subjective? For someone who is incredibly pragmatic someone who is even slightly idealistic would seem completely out of touch with reality. I'd argue that in our own way each of us is in some way shape or form out of touch with reality... but as Delta said earlier this isn't the place for debate about beliefs, merely a stating of them.

Thomas Paine - January 6, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
That just happened to be the definition I grabbed from www.dictionary.com I have no desire to literally argue semantics.

But you wish to go into literal meanings vai the use of a dictonary, thus presenting the arguemnet....very "interesting"

Yay, someone read that!

I choose Rightwinger. I dont know that much about politics or economics, however, so I cant really take on several leftwingers in a debate, so we are going to need some more experienced right wingers to have some good debates.

Nevin - January 7, 2005 12:59 AM (GMT)
Yay! Right-wingers!

Deltasix - January 7, 2005 01:14 AM (GMT)
Yes, the plan is working.

I take it you're vehemently against the radical and idealistic teachings of Jesus, then?

Lorpius Prime - January 10, 2005 05:07 AM (GMT)
Place me where you will. Living in Texas, I get called a "liberal" a lot, mostly since I'm in favor of legalizing most recreational drugs. But since involving myself in online discussions, I've found that Texas politics aren't a good judge of right or left. I have fond memories of one Canadian calling me a "blood-sucking conservative prick", usually for my foreign policy attitudes.

In general, most people like to think of themselves as "moderate", no matter where they are one an unbiased scale (if such a thing exists), so that distorts their judgement of others.

Ωомєga - January 10, 2005 05:47 AM (GMT)
i have no idea where i am, i used to be hardcore right wing until i became more open minded, thanks to debates with Insalibruty and getting banned from BoR. my stance on drugs is basically to get rid of them all, my uncle died from doing every drug and any drug, and they have turned my younger cousin (whos 14) into a messed up disgrace, he tried having me and my brother buy him cigarettes after he got caught. These drugs can also impair judgement and cause more auto related accidents and more hostility with drugs that temporarily turn the user into a strong and mad danger to society. on the bright side legalizing them can be good since you can sin-tax them thus decreasing our taxes and decreasing sales, *pessemistic* and you can decrease the increase of population with the drugs since overdosing on some causes death.

id say im anti drug legalization and i am right of the center ^_^

Nevin - January 11, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
Well, drug legalization is an issue that I'm right wing on as well. If I had my way, cigarettes wouldn't even be legal. Although I'm certainly not for prohibition -- both because alcohol is not plain out harmful like tobacco is, and because history has shown us that prohibition, when implemented, tends to fail drastically.

Omega: What was your account on BoR, and when were you banned?

Deltasix - January 11, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
He is Dancinbanana, and it was never banned, though he did leave BoR after an incident, you probably remember, though if you want more info, contact me through AIM.

Kevin Beckman - January 17, 2005 04:02 PM (GMT)
Well I'm not entirely sure on this. I'm right when it comes to economic issues and left on social issues. I guess that would be a moderate with a big jump towards libertarianism on the charts.

Deltasix - January 17, 2005 05:53 PM (GMT)
Yea, I didn't set up the four point spectrum, just the 2 point. If I wanted to do so (and I probably should have) I would included Authoritarian and Libertarian.

Moderate would be good for you, though I tend to think of you as more liberal (wishful thinking? )

Kevin Beckman - January 19, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
How much I lean to the right or left is usually dependant on my mood.

chav hunter - February 4, 2005 12:48 PM (GMT)
im going with left centre

King'O'Roff - February 14, 2005 09:21 AM (GMT)
This is starting to look like a red army site (nah, I'm only joking!) Evening Camrades! hah hah.

Nah, I'm moderate, somet8imes the more right wing approach is the best, and vice a-versa

Simian - February 19, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Let's see, I'm a good mix of both, although most people would agree that I'm more "passionate" about the issues I agree with Conservatives about. Which makes no sense to me, considering I fight tooth and nail over anything I believe is right and good, such as tolerance, peace and equality.

Deltasix - February 20, 2005 07:30 PM (GMT)
Yea, I would definatly peg you at right of center.

King Solomon - February 20, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
We need more right people to even out the forum lol. I'm republican.

Jay - February 21, 2005 12:53 AM (GMT)
I'm a Moderate, but have been known to lean to the right on certain issues.

Deltasix - February 21, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
Jay, I don't think I've ever known you to be moderate. Right wing or right of center is really more of what you are.

Boru - February 21, 2005 07:29 PM (GMT)
heh,
I think someone here already pointed out everyone wants to consider themselves moderate, but few are.

You know what's funny? Crzyaspie calls me a raving liberal. XD
