Title: All Along the Watchtower
Artist: Jimi Hendrix

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There’s too much confusion
I can’t get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth
Hey hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke but uh
But you and I we’ve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour’s getting late
Hey

Hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Bare-foot servants to, but huh
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approachin’
And the wind began to howl
Hey
Oh
All along the watchtower
Hear you sing around the watch
Gotta beware gotta beware I will
Yeah
Ooh baby
All along the watchtower

Title: Live for Rock
Artist: TAT

With a bit of loose change in my pocket,
Yeah, my soul is stubborn, and,
Nothin'll stop me, and i,
Know where I'm going, I'll go at it alone,
I know where I'm going yeah,
My mind's still strong,
And you, step in my way,
And I'll knock you down,
Like a thousand shit bricks,
I'll drag you to the ground,
I'm done with crumbling under my fears,
I'll make it my own way through,
Blood, sweat and tears

Coz....

(Chorus)
I live for Rock n Roll,
and I'll die,
before I sell my soul,
yesh I'll live for Rock n Roll,
Where Freedom of expression,
and liberty, ain't a discretion,
and I,
Live for Rock n Roll,
yeah I'll die,
Before I sell my soul,
Yesh I'll live for Rock n Roll,
Freedom of expression in a world with no repression

You can't pay this piper,
To, play your tune,
Coz I'll, say what I want,
So you can, sit and endure,
Coz I've been, told in hope,
That degenerates change,
Not in this case, insane I'll remain,
Coz I've been, kicked when I'm down,
And I've been, told I'm nothing,
Well I'm back for you f**kers,
So don't tempt me, I'll crush 'em,
I'm sick of hypocrisy,
And fabricated acts,
Where love of music,
Is sacrificed for cash,
And I....(chorus)

Take back this bottle of liquor,
Coz I found something that'll,
Get to my heart a little quicker (x2)

It does something to me,
Moves right through me,
Head rush I can't forget,
Nothing I'll live to regret

This Rock n Roll moves me,
Moves right through me,
It's my integrity,
It's what it takes to set me free

Because good lyrics are a true art form....

Title: Leisurewear
Artist: Ye Wiles

Take off your smart casuals and don
Those slacks that ooze with "I'm on holiday."
But do you realise that you're second best,
To a disused PVC factory.

It's what the kids want,
And the parents too.

To just throw the shell suits in the fire,
Polyester style flameproofing never lasts.
Disrobe, age yourselves by undressing,
Like fine wines age the garments of the past.

The secret of staying young, it isn'’t what you wear,
Clothes were that much nicer years ago.
You see it is no faux-pas to grow old
With your clothes, never trust a man in a bum-bag.

I guess I'm no romantic, I don't care for semantics as well,
Don't get me wrong, no, I quite like the song.
And so I sit here for lyrical genius to take hold,
But it's too much to ask to be half of Matt Cole?
Progress into the town, soak up monoxide and sounds,
It's enough to worry a cynic. I guess there's nothing in it.
I find the skateboards a bore, down to the club and sweep the floor.
Is it too much to ask? Oh oh oh oh.

To just throw the shell suits in the fire,
Polyester style flameproofing never lasts.
Disrobe, age yourselves by undressing,
Like fine wines age the garments of the past.

All the high street shops are shouting "For sale, for sale,"
"Come and buy our products and you'll end up looking half your age."
Did you see the advert on the TV screens?
Saw the models in all their glory and thought "Shit, that could be me,"
Four and twenty years ago,
They called me groovy, oh they thought I used to care.
But now, now my years are pressing on,
I still spend all my leisure time wondering what to wear.

Leisurewear.

Title: Jesus of Suburbia Lyrics
Artist: Green Day

-Jesus Of Suburbia-

I'm the son of rage and love,
The Jesus of suburbia,
From the bible of "none of the above",
On a steady diet of soda pop and ritalin,
No one ever died for my sins in hell,
As far as I can tell,
At least the ones I got away with

But there's nothing wrong with me,
This is how I'm supposed to be,
In a land of make believe,
That don't believe in me

Get my television fix,
Sitting on my crucifix,
The living room in my private womb,
While the Mom's and Brad's are away,
To fall in love and fall in debt,
To alcohol and cigarettes and Mary Jane,
To keep me insane and doing someone else's cocaine
---

-City Of The Damned-

At the center of the earth,
In the parking lot,
Of the 7-11 where I was taught,
The motto was just a lie

It says: home is where your heart is,
But what a shame,
'Cause everyone's heart,
Doesn't beat the same,
We're beating out of time

City of the dead,
At the end of another lost highway,
Signs misleading to nowhere,
City of the damned,
Lost children with dirty faces today,
No one really seems to care

I read the graffiti,
In the bathroom stall,
Like the holy scriptures in a shopping mall,
And so it seemed to confess,
It didn't say much,
But it only confirmed that,
The center of the earth,
Is the end of the world

And I could really care less
---
-I Don't Care-

I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't care
I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't care
I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't care
I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't,
I don't care if you don't care

Everyone Is So Full Of Shit!
Born and raised by hypocrites,
Hearts recycled but never saved,
From the cradle to the grave,
We are the kids of war and peace,
From Anaheim to the middle east,
We are the stories and disciples of,
The Jesus Of Suburbia

Land of make believe,
And it don't believe in me,
Land of make believe,
And I don't believe,
And I don't care!
---
-Dearly Beloved-

Dearly beloved, are you listening?
I can't remember a word that you were saying,
Are we demented? Or am I disturbed?
The space that's in between insane and insecure

Oh therapy can you please fill the void?
Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed?
Nobody's perfect and I stand accused,
For the lack of a better word, and that's my best excuse
---
-Tales Of Another Broken Home-

To live and not to breathe,
Is to die in tragedy,
To run, to run away,
To find what you believe,
And I leave behind,
This hurricane of f**king lies,
I lost my faith to this,
This town that don't exist

So I run,
I run away

To the light of masochists,
And I leave behind,
This hurricane of f**king lies,
And I walked this line,
A million and one f**king times,
But not this time

I don't feel any shame,
I won't apologize

When there ain't nowhere you can go,
Running away from pain,
When you've been victimized,
Tales from another broken home

Travelin Man
Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band

Up with the sun, gone with the wind
She always said I was lazy
Leavin my home, Leavin my friends
Runnin when things get too crazy
Out on the road, out 'neath the stars
Feelin the breeze, passin the cars

Women have come, women have gone
Everyone tryin to cage me
Some were so sweet, I barely got free
Others, they only enraged me
Sometimes at night, I see their faces
I feel the traces they've left on my soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul

Travelin man, love when I can
Turn loose my hand 'cause I'm goin
Travelin man, catch if you can
But sooner or later I'm goin
Travelin man ... travelin man, yes I am

Sometimes at night, I see their faces
I feel the traces they've left on my soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul
Those are the memories that make me a wealthy soul

This is gonna be my campaign song.

Imagine
John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Paracetamoxyfrusebendroneomycin
The Amateur Transplants

*Spoken*

This album is sponsored by Smaxo Glith Kline,
Who've asked to say a few words about their new drug,
Paracetamoxyfrusebendroneomycin

*Sung*

Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
It’s our brand new wonder drug we think you’ll find enticing,
Paracetamoxyfrusebendroneomycin!

Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay

The BNF has twenty thousand different drugs to take,
So we thought, “What could we produce to give you all a break?”
A drug that could treat anything from leprosy to SARS,
And you can give it in the mouth, IV or up the arse.

It’s Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
It can cure the common cold and being struck by lightning.
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin!

Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay

We tested it on animals and none of them survived,
But that’s OK cos when we wrote the paper up we lied.
It first choice for MI, MS and even for ME and COPD, HIV, PD and DVT

Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
It reverses impotence and makes you good at fighting,
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin!

Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay

There are some minor side effects and some are not that rare,
Like nausea, vomiting and losing all your hair,
And heart attacks, becoming gay and growing extra breasts,
But it’s f**king cheap, and hey, this is the NHS.

Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
There are cures for everything from AIDS to pubic lice in
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin!

Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay

Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
We make it from the cerebellar cortex of a bison.
After that it undergoes some polygenic splicing,
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin!

Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay

Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
It makes you smart as Einstein and as muscular as Tyson.
It brings an end to all that pharmacology revising,
Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin!

Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay
Um-diddle-iddle-iddle-um-diddle-ay

Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin,
We sell lots in Japan cos it’s the antidote to ricin.
The minister of health we hear will shortly be advising
Take Paracetomoxyfrusebendroneomycin!

..........All, sung to the tune of Supercallafragilisticexpealladocious

For What It's Worth
Buffalo Springfield

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Inherited Scars
Sage Francis

[Verse One]
I didn't tell anyone about what I seen or heard that day, mums the word still
I'm scared to plant ideas into your head while your rebellious side is fertile
Hurdles are getting knocked down
I'm running a losing race
Your legs aren't the only ones marked up - how many dreams have you chased?
If I could have said this to your face maybe you wouldn't have to write like I do,
Except I use paper instead of my body now; it's something you might want to try too
From haikus to horror stories, it's something in our blood that we share,
Something in our blood that appears on the surface of our skin when we bring it there
My facial expression said I didn't care
Hate and aggression must've made an impression on the little kid who stared,
Sitting on stairs when I would bother to bring my skates
My feeble attempt at being a strong, big brother doing father figure 8's
Ripping my cape on the ground that it dragged on
Tripping on fate and hearing the sounds of a sad song
Listen, it's great sharing time now that dad's gone,
But what's with the choice of words?
Or the body parts that you decided to tag them on?
I'm a vagabond, who moved to modern day Babylon and then back again
With minimal contact and you know I can't ask your mom what's happening
You've got such beautiful gifts What are you doing ruining the packaging?
How ironic come to think I probably put this ink on my back for him
I want you to laugh and sing more,
But you dropped anchor in a place
where dreams go to die and you're keeping your ass indoors
I'm asking for you to stick it out and see things through
You're asking for me to zip my mouth and keep it just between me and you

[Chorus]
If I could have been there from the beginning if I could be there right now
if I could promise to be there when you need me, would it raise an eyebrow?
How would your body be different if I still dropped by for visits?
Is it my place to put a smile on your face?
Could I erase your body language telling you its all been said before?
Or change the words you wrote, exchanging your scars for my metaphors?
I'd add them to my collection while smiling
Next time you want to paint with razor blades and need a canvas use my skin

[Verse Two]
Hiding your sins well, but I see the hell that your limbs speak
Tongue in cheek Lying awake in bed while other kids sleep
The strength of evil begins to keep your grins weak
No matter the length of the needle
marking up one's body is so much more than skin deep
Feel the pin prick The grim reep what they sew and you're trained to say that you're fine
Your threshhold for pain is greater than mine
So I'm waiting in the lines that you give me patiently,
While you get cut in the lines that THEY make YOU wait inin ways that they can't see
If there's a vacancy as far as room in your life goes,
say it to me But don't do it with a knife under your clothes
Because the anguish of hidden skin is letting my ghosts be shown
Plus the language its written in hits especially close to home
I'm most alone when I'm out of touch with the people who feel this type of pain
You might just aim for a day that its raining to strike a vein to take my name in
Changing your uniform and altering your mind set
Has your pointer finger decided if it was a fault of his or mine yet? I bet
I know the dialect It's nowhere I haven't been before
With skin that's sore Battle scars that rise from our inner war
Are decorative medals of honor that our father decided to pass through inheritance
And it is repetitive when the kids head in the direction of evidence
proving the pain and hurt is relative

All this pain and hurt is relative...

Non Phixion
The CIA is Trying to Kill Me

My anthem  - if I ever had one (the second version "The CIA is Still Trying to Kill Me" with Fear Factory/Deftones' guitarist is also very good)...

[Ill Bill]
Non-Phixion be the real hip hop
We make you wanna kill cops
Cats hatin, 'cause they know I finga girls twats
You feel helpless, real jealous, we killed Elvis
I shot Reagan with the help of the secret service
Super double agent, shoot your mother with my brothers favorite
12 gauge waving at your brain, strange universe, I'm too famous
Leaving the muder scene blameless, drug entertainment
Thugs that'll blaze with laser guns
Saying what I wrote, you feel what I feel
They see the same picture
We made a biscuit do the talk and it became richer
Nobody gets a record deal, you gotta take that shit
Treat the record label like a slut, then rape that bitch
I keep it simple for these stupid cats
Claiming you the facts, but in reality, you a trap
Jesus Christ was a gangsta rapper
They killed him then he came back and made a platinum album
The path that travels like the dragon shadow
Invisible to CIA camera angles
They got a file on every rap group
They killed the last man that had proof
They after me for information that I have too

[Chorus]
I'm paranoid, tell me what the f**k they asked you
You f**k around with me and Im'a have to blast you
The CIA tryna kill me, we bad news
Get the f**k up out my way when I pass through
I'm paranoid, tell me what the f**k they asked you
You f**k around with me and Im'a have to blast you
The CIA tryna kill me, we bad news
f**k around with Non-Phixion thats a bad move

[Sabac Red]
Symbolisms, socialism, live life, lead, learn
Struggle, war, drug fiends, the white house burn
Sex, pain, fear, freedom love, young guns be shootin
Genocide, revolution, lost souls, prostitution
Military confrontation, safe sex, and masturbation
Peace to all the homeless people livin in the train station
Project war, spill the one verse four
Lock the door, burn the disc now everybody hit the mutha f**kin floor
They bustin out a blunt for this shit
I'm number six on they list next to Kiss and all these kids
Cause I roll wit Asians, Latinos and Black fists
5 percent is caucasians thugs who live communist
They broke in my house, planted bugs in ma lamps and my couch
They after me, what? Let me find out
I'm not havin it, My rap attract the service like a magnet
The bastards gettin under like crowded parties wit no laminents
If Im'a die, Im'a die bustin and strugglin
I'm hustlin' for the people, for those devils and corruptions
Nuttin for nuttin, and if somehow they do
They ID me due to my tattoo

[Chorus]

[Goretex]
Projects for straight jackets, electric shock states
A rock could fall out, traded for royalty rates
Get ya drink on, we build the bombs, spit in ya face
Smart to change cars like cruise the block I do it for chase
Nice spite work, the fancy knife work
Hit to Chirst Non-Phixion striking prison Ice shirts
I paid dues, nuttin to loose, Steady bustin off weapons In 2's
When I come home I be smellin shit and furnitures moved
Eat a slug, take some weight off, I lit it so real
I do this for the dead, rest in peace I'm holdin you near
Makin on time, 12 years we on tour we blow you back off
Support cats that jack the car seats and tear ya scalp off
Soldiers of merits, inherited for way back
Cyanide in bullets, so I should follow my stats
We too futuristic, thugs to robots, experiments
Four point restraint and my hyper cube on medicines
Pain Veterans, crippling souls
Its gettin bigger now the information runnin the globe
Its just my mechanics, either wit a gat or zanax
Why spread panic until the sabbath?

[Chorus]

George thorogood and The Destroyers
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Wanna tell you a story,
About the house-man blues
I come home one Friday,
Had to tell the landlady I'd-a lost my job
She said that don't confront me,
Long as I get my money next Friday
Now next Friday come I didn't get the rent,
And out the door I went

So I goes to the landlady,
I said, "You let me slide?"
I'll have the rent for you in a month.
Next I don't know
So said let me slide it on you know people,
I notice when I come home in the evening
She ain't got nothing nice to say to me,
But for five year she was so nice
Loh' she was lovy-dovy,
I come home one particular evening
The landlady said, "You got the rent money yet?",
I said, "No, can't find no job"
Therefore I ain't got no money to pay the rent
She said "I don't believe you're tryin' to find no job"
Said "I seen you today you was standin' on a corner,
Leaning up against a post"
I said "But I'm tired, I've been walkin' all day"
She said "That don't confront me,
Long as I get my money next Friday"
Now next Friday come I didn't have the rent,
And out the door I went

So I go down the streets,
Down to my good friend's house
I said "Look man I'm outdoors you know,
Can I stay with you maybe a couple days?"
He said "Let me go and ask my wife"
He come out of the house,
I could see it in his face
I know that was no
He said "I don't know man, ah she kinda funny, you know"
I said "I know, everybody funny, now you funny too"
So I go back home
I tell the landlady I got a job, I'm gonna pay the rent
She said "Yeah?" I said "Oh yeah"
And then she was so nice,
Loh' she was lovy-dovy
So I go in my room, pack up my things and I go,
I slip on out the back door and down the streets I go
She a-howlin' about the front rent, she'll be lucky to get any back rent,
She ain't gonna get none of it
So I stop in the local bar you know people,
I go to the bar, I ring my coat, I call the bartender
Said "Look man, come down here", he got down there
So what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
Well I ain't seen my baby since I don't know when,
I've been drinking bourbon, whiskey, scotch and gin
Gonna get high man I'm gonna get loose,
Need me a triple shot of that juice
Gonna get drunk don't you have no fear
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

But I'm sitting now at the bar,
I'm getting drunk, I'm feelin' mellow
I'm drinkin' bourbon, I'm drinkin' scotch, I'm drinkin' beer
Looked down the bar, here come the bartender
I said "Look man, come down here"
So what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since the night before last,
Gotta get a drink man I'm gonna get gassed
Gonna get high man I ain't had enough,
Need me a triple shot of that stuff
Gonna get drunk won't you listen right here,
I want one bourbon, one shot and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Now by this time I'm plenty high,
You know when your mouth a-getting dry you're plenty high
Looked down the bar I say to my bartender
I said "Look man, come down here", he got down there
So what you want this time?
I said "Look man, a-what time is it?"
He said "The clock on the wall say three o'clock
Last call for alcohol, so what you need?"

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since a nigh' and a week,
Gotta get drunk man till I can't even speak
Gonna get high man listen to me,
One drink ain't enough Jack you better make it three
I wanna get drunk I'm gonna make it real clear,
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

I love George Thorogood. He makes the best drinking songs(Too bad I don't drink).

Arya - June 26, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
The song is Hindi so I've provided translated lyrics as well as the original.
The movie the song is from is called "Kal Ho Naa Ho" which poetically translates to "Tomorrow may not be".

--MALE--
(Har ghadi badal rahi hai roop zindagi
Life changes its beauty all the time
Chhaaon hai kabhi kabhi hai dhoop zindagi
Sometimes it's a shade, sometimes life is sunlight
Har pal yahan jeebhar jiyo
Live every moment here to your heart's content
Jo hai sama kal ho naa ho) - 2
The time that is here may not be tomorrow

Chaahe jo tumhe poore dil se
One who loves you whole-heartedly
Milta hai voh mushkil se
It is difficult meet that person
Aisa jo koi kahin hai
If there is someone like that somewhere
Bas vohi sab se haseen hai
That person is more beautiful than all
Us haath ko tum thaam lo
Grab onto that (person's) hand
Voh meherbaan kal ho naa ho
He or she may not be so gracious tomorrow
Har pal yahan jeebhar jiyo
Live every moment here to your heart's content
Jo hai sama kal ho naa ho
The time that is here may not be tomorrow

Ho, palkon ke leke saaye paas koi jo aaye
Taking the shadow of your eyelashes, when someone comes near
Laakh sambhaalo paagal dil ko
You try to reason with your crazy heart
Dil dhadke hi jaaye
Your heart just goes on beating
Par soch lo is pal hai jo
But think, that which is here now
Voh daastaan kal ho naa ho
That story may not be here tomorrow
Har ghadi badal rahi hai roop zindagi
Life changes its beauty all the time
Chhaaon hai kabhi kabhi hai dhoop zindagi
Sometimes it's a shade, sometimes life is sunlight
(Har pal yahan jeebhar jiyo
Live every moment here to your heart's content
Jo hai sama kal ho naa ho) - 2
The time that is here may not be tomorrow
Jo hai sama kal ho naa ho
The time that is here may not be tomorrow

One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard with lyrics straight to the heart (for me at least).

Here is my favorite Zeppelin song of the moment (it changes depending on my mood)

Over the Hills and Far Away

Hey lady--you got the love I need
Maybe more than enough.
Oh Darling... walk a while with me
You've got so much...

Many have I loved - Many times been bitten
Many times I've gazed along the open road.

Many times I've lied - Many times I've listened
Many times I've wondered how much there is to know.

Many dreams come true and some have silver linings
I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold.

Mellow is the man who knows what he's been missing
Many many men can't see the open road.

Many is a word that only leaves you guessing
Guessing 'bout a thing you really ought to know, ooh!
You really ought to know...

The Warmth
Incubus

I'd like to close my eyes go numb
but there's a cold wind comming from
the top of the highest high-rise today.

It's not a breeze cause it blows hard.
Yes and it's wants me to discard
the humanity I know
Watch the warmth blow away.

(Chorus)
Don't let the world bring you down
Not everyone here is that f**ked up and cold
Remember why you came
and while you're alive
experience the warmth
before you grow old

Do you think I should adhere
to that pressing new frontier
and leave in my wake a trail of fear?
Or should I hold my head up high
and throw a wrench in spokes by
leaving the air behind me clear?

(Repeat Chorus 2X's)

These two songs are two of my favorites. They aren't that well known, but I just love the lyrics and the music flows together beautifully.

Song: The General
Artist: Dispatch
there was a decorated general with
a heart of gold, that likened him to
all the stories he told
of past battles, won and lost, and
legends of old a seasoned veteran in
his own time

on the battlefield, he gained
respectable fame with many metals
of bravery and stripes to his name
he grew a beard as soon as he could
to cover the scars on his face
and always urged his men on

but on the eve of a great battle
with the infantry in dream
the old general tossed in his sleep
and wrestled with its meaning
he awoke from the night
to tell what he had seen
and walked slowly out of his tent

all the men held tall with their
chests in the air, with courage in
their blood and a fire in their stare
it was a gray morning and they all
wondered how they would fare
till the old general told them to go home
He said
I have seen the others
and I have discovered
that this fight is not worth fighting
and I've seen their mothers
and I will no other
to follow me where I'm going
SO,
take a shower and shine your shoes
you got no time to lose
you are young men you must be living
take a shower and shine your shoes
you got no time to lose
you are young men you must be living
go now you are forgiven

yeah

but the men stood fast with their
guns on their shoulders not knowing
what to do with the contradicting orders
the general said he would do his own
duty but he would extend it no further
the men could go as they pleased

not a man moved, their eyes gazed
straight ahead till one by one they
stepped back and not a word was said
and the old general was left with his
own words echoing in his head
he then prepared to fight

chorus

go now you are forgiven
go now you are forgiven
go now you are forgiven
go

go now you are forgiven
go now you are forgiven
go now you are forgiven
go oh

go now you are forgiven
go now you are forgiven
go now you gotta be, gotta be, gotta be, gotta be, yeah

Song: Flying Horses
Artist: Dispatch
the river of doubt gave birth to a beautiful stone
and in my hands I held it and I knew I was on my own
so I picked it up and held it to the sky
and in my reflection. I knew I was all alone
then I saw this girl with the most beautiful hair
she had it wrapped around her for clothes she did not wear
I asked her for a lock and she complied, after leaving
gorgeous footsteps in the sand as if she didn't care
she was the prettiest girl I ever saw
the stone lay still without a flaw
the feelings I had defied the law
as I came to, I went to
and I took a look, a look down the road
to see a badger and a one eyed toad
they didn't say a word, they just looked at me
with that wise old look of the old
then I went to down to town
to my favorite merry-go-round
to the place where magic horses fly
and you seldom see a frown

[Chorus]
but then I stole a ring from the flying horses
and I can't begin to explain how
I stole a ring from the flying horses
and it's all rusty now
I stole a ring from the flying horses
and I can't begin to explain how
I stole a ring from the flying horses
and it's all rusty now

You see 'cause that stone fell through my pocket
and that lock of hair flew away with the wind
If you chance to meet upon either
well you know where they've been
but don't pick them up or try to find me
they're much happier to be on their own
beauty like that knows no home
and then if you take a look, a look down the road
you'll see a badger and a one eyed toad
they won't say a word they'll just look at you
with that wise look of the old

[Chorus]

This is one of my favourite songs, a moving blues number written by the great Joaquín Sabina and sung very sexy by Pasión Vega. I´ve translated as best I can into English, (although I know that posters like Blizzard + Delta speak good Spanish anyway).
(of course, if anyone is into música latina then I´ll be happy to send the song by email)

La canción de las noches perdidas

Esta es la canción de las noches perdidas
(This is the song of the lost nights)
que se canta al filo de la madrugada
(which is sung on the border of dawn)
con el aguardiente de la despedida,
(with the schnaps of the farewell)
por eso suena tan desesperada.
(that´s why it sounds so desperate)

Y ven a la canción de las noches perdidas
(And come to the song of the lost nights)
si sabes que todo sabe a casi nada,
(if you know that everything tastes of almost nothing)
a carrera en los leotardos de la vida,
(of the race in life´s leotards)
a bola del alcanfor dormida en la almohada.
(of a camphor-ball asleep on the pillow)

Y tiene nombre de mujer
(And it has a woman´s name)
como la soledad, como el consuelo
(like the solitude, like the solace*)
los fugitivos del deber no encuentran taxi libre para el cielo.
(the fugitives of duty don´t find a free taxi to heaven)

Esta es la canción de las noches perdidas,
(This is the song of the lost nights)
lleva un crisantemo ajado en la solapa,
(it wears a withered crysanthemum in its lapel)
se sube a la cabeza como ciertas bebidas,
(it goes up to your head like certain drinks)
se pega a la desilusión como una lapa.
(it sticks to the disilusionment like a limpet)

Y canta la canción de las noches perdidas
(And sing the song of the lost nights)
quema como el gas azul de los mecheros,
(it burns like the blue gas of lighters)
sirve para echar vinagre en las heridas,
(it´s useful to throw vinegar in the wounds)
miente como mienten todos los boleros
(it lies just like all the boleros lie)

Y tiene nombre de mujer
(And it has a woman´s name)
como mi corazón, como tu olvido
(like my heart, like your forgetting)
los fugitivos del deber no tienen más amor que el que han perdido.
(the fugitives of duty have no more love than that which they have lost)

Esta es la canción de las noches perdidas,
(This is the song of the lost nights)
si quieres te la cambio por un rato en tu cama,
(if you want, I change it for a while in your bed)
hierve como el ruedo en tardes de corrida,
(it boils like the arena in evenings of bullfight)
va como los besos en los telegramas.
(it goes like the kisses in telegrammes).

Y tiene nombre de mujer
(And it has a woman´s name)
como la libertad, como la nieve
(like the liberty, like the snow*)
los fugitivos del deber cogen su maldición y se la beben…
(the fugitives of duty take their curse and they drink it down...)

(* - solitude, liberty, snows and solace are typical women´s names in the Spanish-speaking world)

It's The End of The World As We Know It
R.E.M

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane and Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, dummy serve your own needs.
Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no, strength, Ladder start to clatter with fear fight down height.
Wire in a fire, representing seven games, a government for hire and a combat site.
Left of west and coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered cropped.
Look at that low playing! Fine, then.
Uh oh, overflow, population, common food, but it'll do.
Save yourself, serve yourself.
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed dummy with the rapture and the revered and the right, right.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign towers.
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn.
Locking in, uniforming, book burning, blood letting.
Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate.
Light a candle, light a votive. Step down, step down.
Watch your heel crush, crushed, uh-oh, this means no fear cavalier.
Renegade steer clear!
A tournament, tournament, a tournament of lies.
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

The other night I dreamt of knives, continental drift divide.
Mountains sit in a line, Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom!
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam book neck, right? Right.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it. can't I have some time alone?
It's the end of the world as we know it can't I have some time alone? and I feel fine...fine...

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it. can't I have some time alone?
It's the end of the world as we know it can't I have some time alone? and I feel fine...fine...

I have a re-kindled love for R.E.M since saturday night. I went to go and see them (supported by Feeder and Idlewild) at Hyde's Park. The atmosphere was electric, and R.E.M were truelly on form. At the end of their set they left the stage and the whole of Hyde Park started singing this to coax them back on stage....it worked

Song: With or Without You
Artist: U2

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you

Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied
My body bruised, she's got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you
With or without you

Song: Police State

[Chairman Omali Yeshitela]
You have the emergence in human society
of this thing that's called the State
What is the State? The State is this organized bureaucracy
It is the po-lice department. It is the Army, the Navy
It is the prison system, the courts, and what have you
This is the State -- it is a repressive organization
But the state -- and gee, well, you know,
you've got to have the police, cause..
if there were no police, look at what you'd be doing to yourselves!
You'd be killing each other if there were no police!
But the reality is..
the police become necessary in human society
only at that junction in human society
where it is split between those who have and those who ain't got

[Dead Prez]
I throw a Molotov cocktail at the precinct, you know how we think
Organize the hood under I Ching banners
Red, Black and Green instead of gang bandanas
F.B.I. spyin on us through the radio antennas
And them hidden cameras in the streetlight watchin society
With no respect for the people's right to privacy
I'll take a slug for the cause like Huey P.
while all you fake niggaz {*UNNNGH*} try to copy Master P
I want to be free to live, able to have what I need to live
Bring the power back to the street, where the people live
We sick of workin for crumbs and fillin up the prisons
Dyin over money and relyin on religion for help
We do for self like ants in a colony
Organize the wealth into a socialist economy
A way of life based off the common need
And all my comrades is ready, we just spreadin the seed

(Chorus: Dead Prez)
The average Black male
Live a third of his life in a jail cell
Cause the world is controlled by the white male
And the people don't never get justice
And the women don't never get respected
And the problems don't never get solved
And the jobs don't never pay enough
So the rent always be late; can you relate?
We livin in a police state

[Dead Prez]
No more bondage, no more political monsters
No more secret space launchers
Government departments started it in the projects
Material objects, thousands up in the closets
Could've been invested in a future for my comrades
Battle contacts, primitive weapons out in combat
Many never come back
Pretty niggaz be runnin with gats
Rather get shot in they back than fire back
We tired of that - corporations hirin blacks
Denyin the facts, exploitin us all over the map
That's why I write the shit I write in my raps
It's documented, I meant it
Every day of the week, I live in it; breathin it
It's more than just f**kin believin it
I'm holdin them ones, rollin up my sleeves an' shit
It's cee-lo for push-ups now, many headed for one conclusion
Niggaz ain't ready for revolution

(Chorus: Dead Prez)

{*police siren wails*}

[Fred Hampton]
I am.. a revolutionary
and you're gonna have to keep on sayin that
You're gonna have to say that I am a proletariat
I am the people, I'm not the pig

[another speaker]
Guiliani you are full of shit!
And anybody that's down with you!
You could man-make things better for us
and you cuttin the welfare
Knowin damn well when you cut the welfare,
a person gon' do crime..

Kansas - Dust in the Wind Lyrics

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, of curiosity
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind, Everything is dust in the wind

Song: I'm A African

Yo turn this motherf**king shit up!
Ha ha ha
Uhuru, coupe tete boule kay
Rwanda, Nigeria, Africa's in the house
My nigga D.R.

[Verse 1]
Nigga the red is for the blood in my arm
The black is for the gun in my palm
And the green is for the tram that grows natural
Like locks on Africans
Holdin the smoke from the herb in my abdomen
Camouflage fatigues, and daishikis
Somewhere in between N.W.A. and P.E.
I'm black like Steve Biko
Raised in the ghetto by the people
f**k the police you know how we do

[Verse 2]
Ayo my life is like Roots it's a true story
It's too gory for them televised fables on cable
I'ma a runaway slave watching the north star
Shackles on my forearm , runnin with the gun on my palm
I'm an African , never was an African-American
Blacker than black I take it back to my origin
Same skin hated by the klansmen
Big nose and lips, big hips and butts, dancin, what

HOOK:
I'm a African
I'm a African, uhh
And I know what's happenin
I'm a African
I'm a African, uhh
And I know what's happenin
You a African?
You a African?, louder
Do you know what's happenin?
I'm a African
I'm a African, uhh
And I know what's happenin

It's plain to see, you cant change me
cuz I'm a people army for life

Where you from fool?

[Verse 3]
No I wasn't born in Ghana, but Africa is my momma
And I did not end up here from bad karma
Or from B-Ball, selling mad crack or rappin
Peter Tosh try to tell us what happened
He was sayin if you black then you African
So they had to kill him, and make him a villain
Cuz he was teachin the children
I feel him, he was tryin to drop us a real gem
That's why we bucking holes in the ceilin when we hearin

HOOK

A-F-R-I-C-A, Puerto Rico, Haiti, and J.A.
New York and Cali, F-L-A
No it aint 'bout where you stay, it's bout the motherland
(repeat 2X)

[Verse 4]
It's like tank top, flip flop
Knotty dread lock, f**k a cop, hip hop
Make your head bop
Bounce to this, socialist movement
My environment made me the nigga I am
Uncle Sam came and got me and arrested my fam
Try to infiltrate and murder off the best of my clan
I'm not American, punk, Democrat, or Republican
Remember that, most of the cats we know, be hustlin
My momma work, all her life and still strugglin
I blame it on the government and say it on the radio
(What) and if you don't already know
All these Uncle Tom ass kissin niggas got to go

Possibly one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs, if anyone has a good quality live version of it, please PM me.

Bob Dylan
Like a Rolling Stone

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Irish Drinking Song
Less Than Jake

Well I stumbled into the toy room,
All drunk and full of smoke,
My wife said I have had enough,
That's it I'm sick, get out
So I stumbled down to Kelly's Pub,
Across the edge of town,
And I told the boys a wee story,
And we had another round

Chorus:

We'll drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and fight,
We'll drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and fight,
And I might see a pretty girl,
I'll sleep with her tonight,
Yer, we'll drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and fight,

And Mary McGregor,
Well she was a pretty whore,
She'd always great you with a smile,
And never lock her door,
But on the day she died,
All the men in town did weep,
For Mary McGregor, finally got some sleep

Chorus

Well I once loved a girl, a child untold,
I gave her my heart, and she gave me a cold,
So now I sit standing here,
Out in the pouring rain,
I'll stumble back to Kelly's Pub,
And cry away me pain

Chorus

IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE
THE 4TH BRANCH

[Talking]
The new age is upon us
And yet the past refuses to rest in its shallow grave
For those who hide behind the false image of the son of man
shall stand before God!!! It has begun
The beginning of the end
Yeah..
Yeah... yeah, yeah

[Verse 1]
The voice of racism preaching the gospel is devilish
A fake church called the prophet Muhammad a terrorist
Forgetting God is not a religion, but a spiritual bond
And Jesus is the most quoted prophet in the Qu'ran
They bombed innocent people, tryin' to murder Saddam
When you gave him those chemical weapons to go to war with Iran
This is the information that they hold back from Peter Jennings
Cause Condoleeza Rice is just a new age Sally Hemmings
I break it down with critical language and spiritual anguish
The Judas I hang with, the guilt of betraying Christ
You murdered and stole his religion, and painting him white
Translated in psychologically tainted philosophy
Conservative political right wing, ideology
Glued together sloppily, the blasphemy of a nation
Got my back to the wall, cause I'm facin' assassination
Guantanamo Bay, federal incarceration
How could this be, the land of the free, home of the brave?
Indigenous holocaust, and the home of the slaves
Corporate America, dancin' offbeat to the rhythm
You really think this country, never sponsored terrorism?
Human rights violations, we continue the saga
El Savador and the contras in Nicaragua
And on top of that, you still wanna take me to prison
Just cause I won't trade humanity for patriotism

[Hook]
It's like MK-ULTRA, controlling your brain
Suggestive thinking, causing your perspective to change
They wanna rearrange the whole point of view of the ghetto
The fourth branch of the government, want us to settle
A bandana full of glittering, generality
Fighting for freedom and fighting terror, but what's reality?
Read about the history of the place that we live in
And stop letting corporate news tell lies to your children

[Verse 2]
Flow like the blood of Abraham through the Jews and the Arabs
Broken apart like a woman's heart, abused in a marriage
The brink of holy war, bottled up, like a miscarriage
Embedded correspondents don't tell the source of the tension
And they refuse to even mention, European intervention
Or the massacres in Jenin, the innocent screams
U.S. manufactured missles, and M-16's
Weapon contracts and corrupted American dreams
Media censorship, blocking out the video screens
A continent of oil kingdoms, bought for a bargain
Democracy is just a word, when the people are starvin'
The average citizen, made to be, blind to the reason
A desert full of genocide, where the bodies are freezin'
And the world doesn't believe that you fightin' for freedom
Cause you f**ked the Middle East, and gave birth to a demon
It's open season with the CIA, bugging my crib
Trapped in a ghetto region like a Palestinian kid
Where nobody gives a f**k whether you die or you live
I'm tryin' to give the truth, and I know the price is my life
But when I'm gone they'll sing a song about Immortal Technique
Who beheaded the President, and the princes and sheiks
You don't give a f**k about us, I can see through your facade
Like a fallen angel standing in the presence of God
Bitch niggaz scared of the truth, when it looks at you hard

[Hook]
It's like MK-ULTRA, controlling your brain
Suggestive thinking, causing your perspective to change
They wanna rearrange the whole point of view in the ghetto
The fourth branch of the government, want us to settle
A bandana full of glittering, generality
Fighting for freedom and fighting terror, but what's reality?
Martial law is coming soon to the hood, to kill you
While you hanging your flag out your project window

[Talking]
Yeah..
The fourth branch of the government AKA the media
Seems to now have a retirement plan for ex-military officials
As if their opinion was at all unbiased
A machine shouldn't speak for men
So shut the f**k up you mindless drone!
And you know it's serious
When these same media outfits are spending millions of dollars on a PR campaign
To try to convince you they're fair and balanced
When they're some of the most ignorant, and racist people
Giving that type of mentality a safe haven
We act like we share in the spoils of war that they do
We die in wars, we don't get the contracts to make money off 'em afterwards!
We don't get weapons contracts, nigga!
We don't get cheap labor for our companies, nigga!
We are cheap labor, nigga!
Turn off the news and read, nigga!
Read... read... read...

Wanted Dead or Alive
Bon Jovi

It’s all the same, only the names will change
Everyday it seems we’re wasting away
Another place where the faces are so cold
I’d drive all night just to get back home

Chorus:
I’m a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I’m wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive

Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it’s not for days
And the people I meet always go their separate ways
Sometimes you tell the day
By the bottle that you drink
And times when you’re all alone all you do is think

Chorus

I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back
I play for keeps, ’cause I might not make it back
I been everywhere, still I’m standing tall
I’ve seen a million faces an I’ve rocked them all

I’m a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I’m wanted dead or alive
I’m a cowboy, I got the night on my side
I’m wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive

Starry
starry night
paint your palette blue and grey

look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils

catch the breeze and the winter chills

in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they did not know how

perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry
starry night
flaming flo'rs that brightly blaze

swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in
Vincent's eyes of China blue.
Colors changing hue
morning fields of amber grain

weathered faces lined in pain
are soothed beneath the artist's
loving hand.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
but still your love was true

and when no hope was left in sight on that starry
starry night.
You took your life
as lovers often do;
But I could have told you
Vincent
this world was never
meant for one
as beautiful as you.

Starry
starry night
portraits hung in empty halls

frameless heads on nameless walls
with eyes
that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met

the ragged men in ragged clothes

the silver thorn of bloddy rose
lie crushed and broken
on the virgin snow.
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity

how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they're not
list'ning still
perhaps they never will.

I knew that song, but never the title/artist.

Now I must download when I get home.

Jonathan - August 12, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
It is one of my, if not my, favorite song.

Aesop Rock- 9-5ers Anthem

[Aesop Rock]
Zoom in to the fuming of an aggravated breed
Via the study of post-adolesent agitated seeds
Half the patients wasted self pride at Commencement
So I focus on the urban Oxygen samples, the hot that made it breathe
They sold Pompeii impression, waste infections
And twelve steps to lesson
Cretins swiftly tippy toe on hard to swallow, barter concepts
The give-it get-it, never let it self pass the word, eyeing stubborness
Martyrs talks money causes in a harvesting Spartacus
And someone, I've thrown long Hail Mary bombs
Toward cookie-cutter Mother Natures bedazzled synthetic fabrics
Life treats the peasants like
They tried to f**k his woman while he slept inside
Well they're merely chasing perfectionist emblems
When the clock strikes nine
I'll be waking with the best of routine caffiene team players
For the cycle of it
Under a dusted angel heartstring Big Brother is watching
My odometer like buzzard to fallen elk, talking stealth
We got babies, rubber stamps, and briefcase parts
We on some door-to-door now
Order ten dollars or more, we'll shove it down your throat for free
I'll sacrifice my inborn tendencies
For copper pennies for one commanding "Gimme that"
So we can retain baby fat
Make the biter snake bedlam
Holocaust freak, heckle shiesty brain headroom shaped planet
Make a move, pause, make a move break cannon
Bent barrel one eight zero, you'll turn, squeeze, ending
It's on like it's never been
It's bleeding well
It's bigger than a breadbox
It can roast my leaky finance
I'll take my seat atop the Brooklyn Bridge
With a Coke and a bag of chips
To watch a thousand lemmings plummet just because
The first one slipped
Sometimes I laugh at victory, kissing these little question marks
I tend to underestimate my average
Just another bastard savage
Someday you'll all eat out of my cold hand
Cuz every dog has its day
At which point, I'll pull it away

Now we the American working population
Hate the fact that eight hours a day
Is wasted on chasing the dream of someone that isn't us
And we may not hate our jobs
But we hate jobs in general
That don't have to do with fighting our own causes
We the American working population
Hate the nine-to-five day-in day-out
When we'd rather be supporting ourselves
By being paid to perfect the pasttimes
That we have harbored based solely on the fact
That it makes us smile if it sounds dope

[Aesop Rock]
It's the year of the silkworm
Everything I built burned yesterday
Let's display the purpose that these stilts serve
Elevate the spreading of the silk germ
Trying to weave a web but all that I believe in is dead
Nah brother, it's the year of the jackal
Saddle up on high horse
My torch forced Polaris embarrassed
Shackle up the hassle by the dooming legend marriage
I bought some new sneakers
I just hope my legacy matches
It's the year of the landshark
Dry as sand, parched, damn get these men some water
They're out there being slaughtered
In meaningless wars so you don't have to bother
And can sit and soak the idiotbox trying to f**k their daughters
Man it's the year of the Orphan
Seated adjacent to the firefly circling the torches on your porches
Trying to guard the fortress of a king they've never seen or met
But all are trained to murder at the first sign of a threat
Maybe it's the year of the waterbug
Cockroach utter thug specimen
Your response, dreaming of your next of kin
I'm still dealing with this mess I'm in
I've been the object of your ridicule
You've been a bitch lieutenant
God it's the year of the underpaid employee
Spitting forty plus a week
And trying to rape earth on my off time
You bought dizzy, I can't keep myself busy enough
So you can run run run
And I'ma let you think you won
EVERYBODY!

We the American working population
Hate the fact that eight hours a day
Is wasted on chasing the dream of someone that isn't us
And we may not hate our jobs
But we hate jobs in general
That don't have to do with fighting our own causes
We the American working population
Hate the nine to five day-in day-out
But we'd rather be supporting ourselves
By being paid to perfect the pasttimes
That we have harbored based solely on the fact
That it makes us smile if it sounds dope

[Aesop Rock]
Fumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition and
Yawn and stretch and my life is a mess and
If I never make it home today, God bless
Fumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition and
Yawn and stretch and my life is a mess and
If I never make it home today, God bless

U2- Sunday Bloody Sunday

I can't believe the news today
I can't close my eyes and make it go away
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long?
Tonight we can be as one, tonight
Broken bottles under children's feet
Bodies strewn across a dead end street
But I won't heed the battle call
It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall
Sunday, bloody Sunday
Sunday, bloody Sunday
And the battle's just begun,
There's many lost, but tell me who has won?
Trenches dug within our hearts,
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart
Sunday, bloody Sunday
Sunday, bloody Sunday
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long?
Tonight we can be as one
Tonight, tonight
Sunday, bloody Sunday
Sunday, bloody Sunday
Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away
Wipe your blood shot eyes
Sunday, bloody Sunday
Sunday, bloody Sunday
And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and T.V. reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die
The real battle just begun
To claim the victory Jesus won
On a Sunday bloody Sunday
Sunday Bloody Sunday

Both of these songs are by my new favorite band Flipsyde.

"No More"

From the womb to the world
From the world to the grave
From the grave to the heavens and my spirit
From the liquor to the drugs
To the police and the thugs
To my prayers and hope that he hears it
Little kids in the street
Never sleep never eat
Carry burdens of their mommas' and the papas'
To the hell on this Earth
Gettin' hot gettin' worse
Cause were cursed nobody can stop us
Take a look see the sights that I've seen
See the lust see the greed jealousy and killin'
Walk the walk that I've walked
All alone in the dark overtaken by this feelin' that I'm feelin'
Touch the hand that I've touched
In the night what a rush turning blue so could and breathless
See the bars and the chains on your wrist on your brain
Feel the pain of a grown man's death wish

Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more

That's right little mama just keep on walkin' to school
Don't stop and talk to them fools
Tryin' to holla while they sippin' on brew
Cause you're gonna lose
Got to stay focused keep your mind on your dreams
Don't get hypnotized by the bling
Deep inside you must believe and you'll succeed
Cause all we're given is a chance
They play the music and we dance
And ain't no way to make it last if we don't stop and listen
It could be over in a flash
When you killin' for that cash
Flip an Apache and blast 'em with Tomahawk missiles
Moqtada al Sadr Bin Laden Al Qaeda
They all multiplyin' and hidin' and George can't find 'em
And even if he did and killed them then another would come
We makin' enemies faster than we could pick up a gun

Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more

From my soul to my heart
From the ending to the start
In between it's an art and I live it
From one person to the next
All respect no regrets
If you next you got it then give it
Share a hug share the love
We can rise up above
If we try we can fly up to the heavens
All my brothers and my sisters
We can make it if we listen to each other
And just keep on

Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
Is this all there is cause I don't want it no more
And I can see this change comin'
And I can see this change comin'
And I can feel this change comin'

"Skippin' Stones"

And I'ma' drink and I'ma' dip and I'ma ride and I'ma' live
It's just the way that I play
And I'ma' think and I'ma spit and I'ma' fly and I'ma' give
Until the end of my day's
I'm skippin' stones 'till I'm lost in the world
Fall in love and then get lost in a girl
You gotta live life and aint no tellin' what tomorrow can bring
As long as you breathin' and livin' ya dream
You gotta live life
I'm packin' and leavin' travelin' and sight seein'
Writin' my name in the sand on the beach in the Caribbean
Hittin' the club give a pound and a hug to the thugs
Later on I'm makin' love on that bear skin rug

Cause I'm skippin' town I'm skippin stones
I'm skippin' town I'm skippin' stones
I'm skippin' town I'm skippin' stones
And all I know is I'm alone

I feel the vibe inside me and I'm not gonna let it go
So come on and I'm laughin' and cryin' and buyin' time
I'm not gone let it go
So come on and I'm findin' a dime thata wanta good time and I'm not gonna let her go
So come on and it's all on the line but I'm still gone' shine I'm not gone let it go
Hey
Slow it down for a minute while I capture the sky
Surfing the clouds wind surfin' through a deep sea dive
The devil's tryin' to get up in my soul but I'm not gone let it go
So come on and I'm drinkin' this spiritual wine so he can't f**k with my flow

Cause I'm skippin' town I'm skippin stones
I'm skippin' town I'm skippin' stones
I'm skippin' town I'm skippin' stones
And all I know is I'm alone

Keep on runnin' through all my days
He got a need for speed
But what you runnin' from playa
I think he runnin' from me
Take ya time and just relax
He ain't got time to take
Slow it down and think about it
He got moves to make strugglin' and scrapin' takin' chances attemptin' to make it
The time that was taken was tedious but f**k it we made it
Created much later now playin' n' singin' invaded with Piper n' Dave
And the angels bout to make us the greatest
Somebody save us the shit that we spittin' soundin' ridiculous
Rippin' and gifted with lyrics flavored up more than licorice
Shift it and kick it with enough spittage to make it Sickenin'
Skippin' stones, mama I'm gone its time to rip this shit

Cause I'm skippin' town I'm skippin stones
I'm skippin' town I'm skippin' stones
I'm skippin' town I'm skippin' stones
And all I know is I'm alone

"Walking Contradiction"

Do as I say not as I do because
The shit's so deep you can't run away
I beg to differ on the contrary
I agree with every word that you say
Talk is cheap and lies are expensive
My wallet's fat and so is my head
Hit and run and then I'll hit you again
I'm a smart ass but I'm playing dumb

Standards set and broken all the time
Control the chaos behind a gun
Call it as I see it even if
I was born deaf, blind and dumb
Losers winning big on the lottery
Rehab rejects still sniffing glue
Constant refutation with myself
I'm a victim of a catch 22

I have no belief
But I believe
I'm a walking contradiction
And I ain't got no right

Do as I say not as I do because
The shit's so deep you can't run away
I beg to differ on the contrary
I agree with every word that you say
Talk is cheap and lies are expensive
My wallet's fat and so is my head
Hit and run and then I'll hit you again
I'm a smart ass but I'm playing dumb

I have no belief
But I believe
I'm a walking contradiction
And I ain't got no right

I have no belief
But I believe
I'm a walking contradiction
And I ain't got no right

O Superman
(Laurie Anderson)

O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad
O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad

Hi. I'm not home right now
But if you want to leave a message
Just start talking at the sound of the tone

Hello? This is your Mother
Are you there? Are you coming home?
Hello? Is anybody home?

Well, you don't know me, but I know you.
And I've got a message to give to you.
Here come the planes.
So you better get ready.
Ready to go.
You can come as you are, but pay as you go
Pay as you go

And I said:
OK. Who is this really?
And the voice said:
This is the hand, the hand that takes
This is the hand, the hand that takes
This is the hand, the hand that takes

Here come the planes
They're American planes
Made in America
Smoking or non-smoking?

And the voice said:
Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night shall
stay these couriers from the swift completion
of their appointed rounds
'Cause when love is gone, there's always justice
And when justice is gone, there's always force
And when force is gone, there's always Mom

Hi Mom!
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms
In your automatic arms
Your electronic arms
In your arms
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms
Your petrochemical arms
Your military arms
In your electronic arms

"Hymn 43"

Oh father high in heaven -- smile down upon your son
whose busy with his money games -- his women and his gun.
Oh Jesus save me!
And the unsung Western hero killed an Indian or three
and made his name in Hollywood
to set the white man free.
Oh Jesus save me!
If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself
from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death.
Oh Jesus save me!
I saw him in the city and on the mountains of the moon --
His cross was rather bloody --
He could hardly roll His stone.
Oh Jesus save me!

Everybody's Fool

Perfect by nature
icons of self indulgence
just what we all need
more lies about a world that

never was and never will be
have you no shame don't you see me
you know you've got everybody fooled

look here she comes now
bow down and stare in wonder

oh how we love you
no flaws when you're pretending
but now i know she

never was and never will be
you don't know how you've betrayed me
and somehow you've got everybody fooled

without the mask where will you hide
can't find yourself lost in your lie

i know the truth now
i know who you are
and i don't love you anymore

it never was and never will be
you're not real and you can't save me
somehow now you're everybody's fool
