Title: New Years: 2008
Description: Q&A Style

RancerDS - January 3, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
Happy New Years to All!!

What will 2008 hold for the Politics and Prose (PnP) forums?
The first day of January in 2008 may not be significantly more different than say a November 12th or April 29th. It heralds a new year and sometimes a new beginning. Those are the ones eating black-eyed peas and making resolutions they probably won't be able to keep. The staff of PnP haven't set any resolution. We aren't dedicated to making this the most popular site. That is up to you.

Why hasn't RancerDS been more active here?
While not speaking for anyone else, will state that 2 nights a week I run a free poker tournament. Often play every night, when there is enough gas in the vehicle to cross town. Otherwise am cutting or delivering firewood, taking odd jobs or scheduling debris cleanup after this last harsh ice-storm. And playing a select game or two in the spare time.

Why bother keeping the site active if posts and viewing are so low?
Just like anything else, you don't throw it out unless you're absolutely sure it's some unusable trash. There are still some very informative posts. This is an election year. The sub-forum "Indecision '08" is there for purview. Morpheus is still very politically minded and watching that arena closely. He might even answer a few questions now and again.

Can PnP still change for the better and how so?
How something can change to be better is always subjective. The idea of our government is that things are done to suit the many versus a select few. In the past, there had been complaints on how things had been handled. Everything was handled in a pretty fair way when there were disputes of any kind. But the rules and by-laws can change. The membership levels, naming scheme and processes can also change. I'd state that we can take on a form much like a democratic governance. We could hold elections, from that is chosen an interim body to rule and other criteria are set forth to help shape and mold the future structure of Politics and Prose.

Where does DeltaSix fit in all of this?
He is the proverbial father of the PnP nation. He shall always retain root level administrative control. It doesn't matter if he is directly or indirectly involved, nothing can occur without his assumed consent. He can drop the board. He can delete or move forum categories. And he can delete, edit, trash, close or move posts. He can make someone a prince from a peon and vice versa. Will he? Sincerely believe he'd not do anything to alienate an active member whom has remained in good standing. And if a person is being subject to corporal punishment, others can rush to their side by starting a petition.

What happens if it doesn't evolve or improve?
This board won't become subject to my whimsical moods. (Yeah, they can be flighty once in a blue moon, (which is about every 2 and 3 quarters of a year)) I'd made a notation in the rules that an author can delete their own posts if able then nix mine. Would appoint a pro-tem admin and then set myself to being a base member. This would allow things to evolve on their own. And all of this could happen if no member raises and objection and get a second.

How can I learn more before it's too late??
First, you'd stay current on the posts concerning administration of Politics and Prose. Second, you'd post any questions or comments you have in the PnP Parliment. Lastly, you'd e-mail me directly. And beyond that, if you don't like the tone of how this is going to affect things you do whatever you can to reach DeltaSix and have him shoot me for starting any kind of revolution. With that said, "Viva la Revolucion!!"

This post will be moved to PnP Parliment after 10 days time
