Cop arrests cook for salty burgerOk, Just figured I'd post this up. Its not serious news, but what the hell is this cop thinking???
He sent the burger to the crime lab!! Talk about a misallocation of state resources. If the cop wasnt satisfied with the service at the golden arches, then perhaps he should go elsewhere for his fastfood fix.
Just another example of a cop on a power trip.
Oh my.
This sets a scary, dangerous precedent. I know people aren't always the smartest creatures on Earth. And that if something tastes bad or too salty or whatever... they ought to have the common sense to take it back or throw it away. Now they are making a majour case out of this like her employment at McDonald's threatens every customer with the risk of being "salted" to death. Like the people that go there worry about salt-intake, calorie intake or any other kind.
There isn't a real "criminal" charge there. And the friggin' officer ought to be seeking civil damages... not against the employee but from the restaurant. Yeah, they could name the employee if things were so troubling... but if the friggin' coworkers and attending supervisor blew it off after THEY thumbed off the extra salt... then that is a kind of prejudicial treatment... punishing one not the most guilty... except the original travesty of spilling salt.
This is definitely a case of a cop CRYING foul over something spilled. And yeah, let's be sure to send it to the crime lab. Maybe there was some E-Coli running around loose that you can add to those charges against that poor girl working there. Like premeditated murder or some really silly nonsense.
I actually saw some security camera footage not too long ago of a cop arresting a wendy's drive-thru window girl because he thought she stiffed him $10 in change. He went into the building and maced her even after the manager told him that she gave him the correct amount of change.
The family sued and got $10,000 out of it. Unfortunately that cop is still employed.
The case will be dropped, no doubt about it. There is only one case that I know of where someone was rightfully arrested for the food as given to cops. Someone working at a McDonalds here in NYC (IIRC) was putting small pieces of glass in burgers. Two cops had eaten it and ended up with their digestive system getting all cut up.
Not only will the case get dropped though but the officer will probably be jammed up for a bit meaning, to move up will take a long time and lots of extra effort. Arrests of such an easily questionable nature as this are actually looked down on in the NYPD. I could only assume it would be looked down on elsewhere as well.
In the end, it doesn't really seem like a criminal matter but a civil matter instead if one were to make something of it.
