Title: Israeli Jet Fired Upon

For those unawares....

QUOTE
The Israeli jets "dropped ammunition" over deserted areas of northern Syria early on Thursday, a spokesman told the official Syrian Arab News Agency (Sana).
QUOTE
A Syrian official added: "They dropped bombs on an empty area while our air defences were firing heavily at them." Residents said they heard the sound of five planes or more above the Tal al-Abiad area on Syria's border with Turkey, about 100 miles north of the Syrian city of Rakka.

The caption under a photo (provided by Rueters) of an F-16 indicates that both Syria and Israel are still technically at war.

Personally, I'm not sure what the real purpose was. It could have been to test Syrian air defenses, to hit some terrorist encampment or a rogue pilot. Whatever they thought their ends were, not sure it was a very wise move. Israel has enough on it's plate without goading nearby countries into aggression. If Syrian aircraft had entered Israeli airspace, I fear the war would NOT be a "technicality" for long.

Just another example of Israel being an agressor. Israel is allowed to do whatever it wants in that region, and it really needs to stop. The UN along with the US need to put pressure on Israel to stop using its millitary and actually try diplomacy to solve matters. If Syria responded, I think they would have every right to, and it would probably lead to open war and mass criticism of syria by the international community. Even though Israel is part of the problem also.

Spin on this now is that the Israelis may have attacked and destroyed some sort of nuclear site (possibly North Korean in origin [?] )
