Recently, for school work (I study in history), I made a research about hippies and their way of life. Such was my interest in what I found that I wrote a short story about hippies for the school's literary journal. Before doing my research, I wished I had seen the hippie sub-culture. Now I wished I had been part of the hippie sub-culture. The idea of hitch-hiking your way at random through North America and meet hundreds of friendly people of your kind at rock shows, anti-war protests and anarcho-communistic villages sounds just... too cool.
I'm sometimes saddened by the contempt directed at the hippies by many people. The hippies were peaceful, tolerant, generous and compassionate. They were also drugged all the time, but it's forgivable...
