Title: Party Affiliation
Description: Whats yours?
Deltasix - July 10, 2006 02:30 AM (GMT)
This poll is aimed towards US Citizens who are registered to vote. Just curious as to your party affiliation.
I'd discourge you to post here if you're not registered to vote in the United States, or do not plan to be so by the next election.
I posted the options on the Maryland form, dunno if its different from state to state.
If someone wants to make a thread about this for another country (example: England) feel free to do so in the World Reports section.

No party. I'm not really a fan of US-style electoral democracy, especially considering the fact that it's essentially a two-party system. That said, I'd vote Green in local and state elections (assuming the Democrats have control of the state), and then Democrats during national elections.

So you put "un-affilated" on your registration form? Or will do that when you do register?

Yeah, I'm putting "Independent" or whatever. I just turned 18 this year, but I'll register before election time.

Sounds good. Thats what I did, I just put down "Unaffiliated" myself.

Well, I'm a registered Democrat, but that's only so I can vote in Primaries. If I had to align my political opinions with that of a particular party, it would be Green (although I don't agree with the Green Party on everything, of course).
Lorpius Prime - July 13, 2006 02:54 PM (GMT)
Unaffiliated with the other parties.
Zairik - July 14, 2006 01:50 AM (GMT)
Planning on voting Republican in the next U.S. election.

Most conservative Democrat I know. Often accused of being a liberal Republican. Centrist by nature, Democrat by choice, and Southern-born by the Grace of God! :)

Thats cool. Just to make sure others understand this thread (I know you did) this isn't as much to state your entire political viewpoint, just what you afilliated with. ;)

I also put down unaffiliated,
I'm actually only sixteen but by 08 I'll be old enough and right now thats what I plan to put myself down as.
Bartleby - October 2, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
I voted Democrat since I will be registering as a Democrat the day I turn 18 (which, very unfortunately for me, is two weeks after the 2008 General Election).
Kirtar - October 16, 2006 04:20 AM (GMT)
Ick.
Political parties.
Independent.
Navx256 - November 10, 2006 10:21 PM (GMT)
Sorry for the bump.
I'm just short of 18, but I know I'm registering Republican, and I know I'm voting Republican. Yet I can also agree that political parties are too powerful.
Morpheus - November 18, 2006 02:25 AM (GMT)
D-D-D-Democrat!!!!!!

Keep in mind that the IQ of folks here is higher above the national norm and a younger crowd. Hence independant thinking that might examine candidates more close versus picking someone based upon their party allegiences. Can't speak for everyone else, but I think that's why you are seeing the disdain of political party support.
Mostly independant here, though I am considering marking it as one or the other of the two-parties just to participate more by voting in a primary... and would be in the Democratic one most likely.

I guess i consider myself to be a democrat. I'm really liberal. I'm for abortion, gay rights and i'm pro-enviroment.
RockabillyRabbit - January 30, 2007 07:38 AM (GMT)

Deltasix - January 30, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
Always interesting to have a new party member floating around.
Maerceci - February 18, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
I don't really know what to put here... there are things that I agree with from both the Republican and Democratic parties and things I disagree with from both... I typically side with the Republicans though.
Deltasix - February 20, 2007 03:39 AM (GMT)
Well, the idea was/is you put whatever party you filled out your affiliation with on your voter registration ballot.
