Title: MTV
Description: Why?

What do you think of it? I dunno myself, I seem to vaugly remember at one time, prehaps the early 90s, actually seeing music on the channel, but I mainly think of it as a station has tried everything in it's power to kill music during my lifetime.

You?

I think it detracts from musicians ability to spread their music as all aren't exactly able to use this resource. Musicians aren't selecting the music shown, displayed, or promoted. I agree with Delta. The people who know the most aren't in charge of music.

In the 80s, it was great as somewhat of a maverick--trailblazing the way for making music and musicians as well-known and as available as sports stars and political figures on TV.

But like just about everything else on TV, it fell victim to market forces--producers and consultants who measure and poll and try to maximize profits.

It seems we have a different definition of "music" MTV...
I've never seen anything I would consider music on that channel in my life.

MTV isn't MTV anymore, although it used to be. Sure, they have a video countdown every now and then, but mostly it's just stupid shows about people doing stupid things. We can hardly call it MTV anymore, there's hardly enough music.

I never understood why you would want to WATCH music enough to make an entire channel for it. I’m happy with my Windows Media Player visual effects.

It can be another form of art. Just as music is art, a music video can be. So can a movie.

Plus, they are both forms of entertainment.

Unfortunatly, you can't see that too often nowadays.

Yeah, terrible because ABC is American Broadcasting Company. While MTV does stand for Music TV, which it was.....15 years ago.

My point still stands.

Edit: Thats like saying what does the BBC have to do with BBC[code]
