Which corporations have the best advertising campaigns?

Deltasix - March 5, 2006 12:26 AM (GMT)
From my life time, I'd say that Nike, McDonalds, and prehaps some compaines like DeBeers have some of the best advertising for compaines.

The US Army isn't bad either.

Best as in getting best sales despite putting out a shitty product? Best as in just sales even though the product is good & can sell itself almost? Best as in most appealing? What do you mean by best?

How about "best" as measured by the number of men in lederhosen?

The company that consistently and successfully uses advertising to promote its products. I'm not asking which specific company has had the best cost-benefit ratio in terms of money spent on advertising and money earned through sales attributed directly to that advertising. I've left the question open-ended, so that you can answer how you like.

One of the most successful advertising campaigns was Pepsi's taste test, a couple of years ago. Sales spiked following that ad campaign. Pepsi has continued to have effective advertising. It has not matched (much less surpassed) Coca-Cola, but that in part has to do with its product development and it's inability to penetrate international markets as quickly as Coke has. In other words, you can't attribute that to its advertising.

Apple's "Think Different" campaign and its iPod campaign have been hugely successful as well.

Nike's "Just do it" is one of the most memorable ad campaigns in recent history.

Well the first thing I think of is the shampoo industry adding repeat to its instructions on the bottle but that's not exactly advertising. More of a marketing technique.

I stand corrected. Oooo. What about the chia pet? There's a piece of crap that wound up in almost every American home. I don't know what global fads are going on now.

Deltasix - April 6, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)
Well, there was the pet rock back in the day. Before my time, but that seems even worse than the Chia-Pet.

I thought people picked them out the garden and painted them. You mean some people bought pet rocks?!! I'm ...just...stunned........

Kids learn about Ronald McDonald before they learn ABC’s. It's largely geared toward kids with things like Happy Meals, and Playgrounds. We all have to eat, and it's convenient. Where do we (America) end up going to eat a billion times a day?

Best as far as being funny or catchy... I like the quiznos subs spongemonkeys

But I haven't see that commercial in a while.
I've never went to Quiznos.
It sure makes me want to try a Quiznos Sub though. :ermm:

ROFL! These are so bad they're funny.

With everybody reviving all these retreo fads,
why not have commercials that go with the theme?

As for current advertisements, I say Vault (by The Coca-Cola Company) is gaining a lot of attention.

Lisa Frank was great. Instead of buying expensive brand name school supplies, I just bought generic and $2 worth of stickers then Presto! Socially accepted school supplies. Back in my day I spent hours trying to draw Mickey and Smurfs.

Those stupid cars. They ran for an hour I think then died. Batteries took hours to charge if I recall correctly. In the end the kids really wanted to ride a bike more.

Gator Golf. I don't think that ever really took off. Giving kids a plastic golf club to swing around in the house wasn't a great idea.
