Title: What do you believe?
Description: Ah, the power of cheese.

Deltasix - January 2, 2005 10:59 PM (GMT)
Rather than make this a poll with some 40 some options, I'll just ask, what do you belive? What is your religon?

If you can't put your thoughts under a label, explain them.

I'm kinda atheist, You?

blizzard - January 3, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
My mom's a Catholic, my dad's a Buddhist and I am an atheist.

psycholopher - January 3, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
I'm partly Catholic, partly Buddhist, and partly agnostic. Don't ask, because I can't clarify it just yet.

Deltasix - January 3, 2005 04:32 AM (GMT)
Well, I was rasied by two (not so strict) Roman Catholics, and was catholic for a while, but slowly "coverted" to atheism.

Intifada - January 3, 2005 05:59 AM (GMT)
I come from an Islamic family, however I have little faith in "God" at the moment.

Put me down as an agnostic.

Boru - January 3, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
I'm Catholic, but with zen/buddhist influences in a lot of my philosophy.

I practice Catholism probably largely because I was raised in that tradition, but also because I feel drawn to the Eucharist and the Catholic celebration of it in a way I can't quite explain. I'm working on it, and will probably post something about it later, however it will be largely personal and as such rather subjective and probably not very discussion engendering.

Nevin - January 3, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
I was raised Christian, and I still am. I've gone through short periods of doubt, but for the most part I believe what my parents believe. There are a few areas on which I differ -- I'm not completely sure of the Trinity, for instance. I'm an Anabaptist Christian, and I conform to most Anabaptist beliefs (aside from the Trinity), two of the main ones being adult baptism and pacifism. I'm a firm believer in pacifism, and that Jesus was a pacifist. It rather annoys me when conservative Christianity is so often equated with violence.

So, yeah. Anabaptist Christian.

Kirtar - January 4, 2005 02:20 AM (GMT)
I was raised Christian, went over to Atheism, and now I'm a Deist/Theist/whatever, Nevin. :P

Bigfoot - January 5, 2005 02:28 AM (GMT)
Im protestant with a little buhdism.

mikezbravo - January 6, 2005 03:16 AM (GMT)
I was raised Strict Roman Chatholic, i still strongly belive but not so strict at all

BlakWhiteClix - January 6, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
I was raised Roman Catholic, and I believe in God, but I don't necessarily believe everything I hear in Church, so I'm not fond of going there.

Diesm is great religion, my favorite actually. As a result of the Enlightenment, its all based on reason and not whining to god to fix all your problems but rather to help inspire you to fix them yourselves. Also it completely rejects organized religion and all its numerous corruptions. Great religion, even though its not mine. Though the idea of god is beautiful, i dont really care, also the devil doesnt seem like such a bad guy.

Ωомєga - January 11, 2005 02:58 AM (GMT)
im lutheran, but my beliefs contradict with the church's i feel that heaven can not be reserved for one religion or lack there of. i feel that religion is only a set of morals that you should follow to help you get closer to god, but believing doesnt get you that far. i feel that ones virtues outweigh their "god". i feel that a good atheist has the same chance in heaven as a good jew, muslim, christian, etc. what church you go to doesnt determine if you are a "good person" but their actions determine if they are good or bad.

Lorpius Prime - January 11, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
Both my parents are Catholic, and raised me that way; and I still have a bit of a bias towards that religion if I ever think about it. But I never really thought much about religion until four years ago, when one of my friends told me he was agnostic, and we had a brief conversation, which is when I realized I was agnostic as well. I like tangibles, so religion doesn't enter much into my life at all.

Kevin Beckman - January 14, 2005 12:32 AM (GMT)
Educated agnostic here.

Zoycitenega - February 7, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
I was raised Christian, but drifted away in middle school. Right now I'm a non-denominational Satanist.

That a different belief system than an uneducated agnostic's?

Vox Populi - February 24, 2005 05:34 AM (GMT)
I'd say agnostic, only because I cannot prove for sure than a God doesn't exist. I do not have any faith that one does, however.

You'd be suprised.

King'O'Roff - February 25, 2005 11:25 AM (GMT)
I believe in God...but I'm the only member of MY religion - I'm a Rofflic! I'm only joking...I believe in god but not the church.

psycholopher - February 25, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
Some might call you a Deist.

Abdul-Sala'am - March 30, 2005 12:42 AM (GMT)
I come from a Jewish mother and a Native American father.

I am Muslim. :)

King'O'Roff - April 5, 2005 10:52 AM (GMT)
Cooooool....

King'O'Roff - April 5, 2005 10:53 AM (GMT)
Hang on...if your mother was Jewish, shouldn't you be jewish? Or did you convert?

I was born and raised Jewish. Nobody is born Muslim. Every Muslim is a convert. :)

Shoeness - April 6, 2005 01:08 AM (GMT)
I'm an educated practicing Catholic and I impose my beliefs on people every day. I teach religion.

King'O'Roff - April 6, 2005 10:52 AM (GMT)
I was never entralled with R.E. :(

Boru - April 6, 2005 05:22 PM (GMT)
what is R.E?

psycholopher - April 7, 2005 01:18 PM (GMT)
Religious education?

King'O'Roff - April 7, 2005 02:03 PM (GMT)
Right on the button, it's compulsory where I live. I hated it, so I used the lessons to catch up on sleep (though that's not to say that I'm ignorant of other people's cultures mind).

you know, in my exam, there was a question of how movies showed religious issues, so I used Monty Python's guide to life as an example! I still got a C!

Boru - April 7, 2005 03:55 PM (GMT)
Wait do you attend local public schools in England or a private school? I'm just wondering if the government in England requires compulsary religious education. I suppose it could be a good thing if the idea is to expose students to many different religions and the differing beliefs as well as those held in common... but... very curious nonetheless.

Clandestine - April 14, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
My Father is Celt, While my mother is 1/2 celt-1/2 Native American. I believe in what I was tought - Tribal Law of Nature. It makes a Hell of alot more sense than any other's I've encountered.

But that's not what it says on my tags... +

I attend a public secondary school (high school essentially) - and yes, the government does impose compulsory secondary education.

But NO, it's not like you think. It's a bag of...well, crap. You had to do for course-work [that's essentially a home-based exam], "How religion and moral issues are portrayed on TV soaps". Eugh, as if they expected me to sit on my backside for three weeks on end, for one hour a day - watching some soppy soap like "Eastenders" - no thank you, I had better things to do with my time - so I ended up doing the 100% exam instead of the 80% one.

Both my parents are Hindu and so am I.

Deltasix - June 22, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)

Zairik - September 13, 2005 08:36 PM (GMT)
I値l probably end up being stereotyped, but I知 a Bible believing Evangelical Protestant Pentecostal Christian (if you want to get specific).

Yes, I believe in God (not a doubt in my mind). Yes, I believe the Bible has no flaws. Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ and I'm saved. Yes I believe in speaking in tongues (although I haven't had that spiritual gift, my Mom has). Yes, I was raised Christian all my life.

Watch out or I値l convert you. ;)
